Activities to Do

Here you’ll be able to enjoy your inner adventurer or just lay out along the beach! White sandy beaches the color of bleached bone adorn the coasts of Punta Cana, with warm shallow waters that go on forever. If you’ve ever wanted to snorkel along rainbow coral reefs, you’ll have your chance here! Go walking along the seafloor seeing the wonders below, or you can go explore the eco-parks with their blue lagoons and pristine waters. Go zip lining over the lush verdant tropical rainforest and see the Dominican Republic like never before, and wrap up the day with a horseback ride along the beach or a banana boat ride around the coast.

Dining in Punta Cana

Dining in Punta Cana is fun and fabulous! The best offering of Punta Cana dining is of course the seafood; eat fresh lobster that falls right out the shell buttered, boiled fried and combined with all kinds of familiar flavors. Try Dominican coffee, some of the best and strongest in the world at great prices at little Kafees (coffee shops) all over the area. Eat fresh ripe bananas that never spent the best weeks of their lives stuck in a container boat sailing across the Atlantic, and you can’t miss the fusion cuisine either! When you’re looking for the best in fine dining, look no further than the resort hotels; here you can get your meals free (as part of your all-inclusive package) and enjoy all kinds of decadent desserts.

Nightlife to Experience

Nightlife in Punta Cana is endless and glamorous. Just looking outside your suite window you’ll see the glittering casinos along the waterfront with their Vegas style shows and gaming rooms. Step outside the resorts and you’ll be embraced by all manner of sweet and delicious smells, live entertainment, and a raging club scene that goes on all night long.

When you come to Punta Cana for your destination resort vacation, you’ll be able to enjoy all this and more. Check out our other pages and you’ll find what else Punta Cana has to offer you.

Activities

ACTIVITIES IN PUNTA CANA

Punta Cana has so much to do; you might need to come back more than once to explore it all! The Bavaro Runners has an awesome safari experience, where you can see all the wildlife, visit one of the many sugar plantations and in Manati Park you can swim with wild dolphins and take a sunset horseback ride on the beach. The Altos de Chavon is a replica of a real renaissance village, where you can explore what the life was like for the early settlers from the Mediterranean. Saona Island has boat tours and you can lounge on the soft white beaches soaking up the sun and enjoying all the beauty the wildlife park has to offer you. With Punta Cana’s rich history of European, African, and indigenous influences, you’ll find it a unique experience with a touch of home.

See the Caribbean Like Never Before

Punta Cana has a relaxed atmosphere, and with it comes some unique opportunities to see the Caribbean like nowhere else. Take a helicopter tour (you can schedule one through the resort you’re staying with, so you’re dealing with someone reputable) over Punta Cana; celebrate your wedding day by having a champagne toast flying over the coast and verdant palm trees and powdery white beaches.

If you’re not a big fan of flying through the air, there are Segway tours where you can learn to balance on one and access areas you might not be able to get to by car or on foot! A Bavaro Adventure tour shows you real every day Caribbean life without having to deal with large tour groups.

If you’d rather get UNDER the water, the Seaquarium tour gives you a guided underwater tour with a diving helmet, so you can walk the seafloor and see the coral reefs and sea life up close and personal. Rafting is great also in the nearby city of Jarabacoa, where there are 18 rivers for white water rafting.

Go Shopping in Punta Cana

While you might be tempted to shop in the boutiques inside resorts, don’t! Make sure you get out to the city proper and check out the shopping plazas, or Zocalos, that are just about everywhere. You’ll also pay a third to a quarter of the price that you would in the resort shops. Beware, Dominicans love to haggle and will give you a bad price in the beginning, but if you try to go down you’ll start getting to the heart of the deal. Haggling during shopping is an important part of a Dominican Shopping experience, so try it, even if it’s just once.

From diving to shopping to helicopter tours and even shark fishing, Punta Cana has a lot of things to do! You’ll never have to worry about having nothing to do, unless you want to lounge on a beach chair with someone bring you tropical colorful drinks or have a spa day. Indulge in an escape from the ordinary and go explore Punta Cana today!

Dining

PUNTA CANA DINING

Punta Cana offers an unparalleled experience for gourmands and people looking for a quick bite! It’s important to note that the all-inclusive resorts offer all kinds of foods ranging from Asian, Caribbean and even Mediterranean and Middle Eastern too, so when you’re staying in one you want to make sure you try out their dining options when you visit for your destination vacation! If you’re looking for seafood, you’ll have no shortage of options along the shore and even in the city proper; the best seafood that won’t set you back though can be the open air grills along the beach and they’re pretty easy to spot (the best of which is Capitan Cook) so make sure you try them out.

A Word of Caution

When eating outside the resort hotels you need to watch out for produce. There are many vegetarian restaurants in the Dominican Republic, but they do use pesticides and don’t always wash the fruit. If you have fresh fruit that hasn’t been peeled (same for vegetables), don’t be shy about peeling it yourself! If you’re eating food in a buffet or open grill situation, avoid any food that looks like it’s been sitting out for a while. Punta Cana is a beautiful place, but you don’t want to spend your vacation with gastritis!

Punta Cana Seafood

The Caribbean is hands down the best place to get seafood! In the Dominican Republic you’ll find a wide variety of delectable delicacies to try out, but keep your eyes peeled for spiced and rum inspired dishes that keep it nice and fresh. Lobster that falls right out of the shell, fresh crabs and flying fish from Aruba! If you’re more adventurous, you can go out and catch your dinner on a deep sea charter boat. You’ll find many different open air grills right on the beach where you can get great food at great prices; you’ll want to check out Caribbean and catch of the day specials. If you’ve never had seafood that didn’t spend a month or two in a freezer before it came to your plate, you’re missing out! Try seafood just once.

Resort Dining in Punta Cana

If you want the best fine dining that a luxury resort has to offer, without having to pay the luxury price, you want to check out the resort hotels. Each one will have its own restaurants and flavors to offer, but what you will enjoy is a good variety of different cuisines all in one place. When you’re a guest on an all-inclusive package, you’ll be able to eat for free; if you’re not a guest of the resort hotel you’re eating at, you’ll have to pay the price on the menu. Either way, you’ll get access to all star chefs with inventive dishes made from local produce and delicious seafood. If you’re looking for surf and turf, you can dine on some of the finest Argentinian steaks flown in fresh.

Dining in Punta Cana is a great way to explore the island’s culture and its history. Explore the restaurants inside the resorts and all the great little places by the sea.

Nightlife

PUNTA CANA NIGHTLIFE

Nightlife in Punta Cana is among the best in the Caribbean. With so many different all-inclusive resort hotels to choose from, you can go your entire vacation without having to pay for a single colorful drink with little umbrella in it. Here you can go salsa and tango dancing all night long until the sun comes up, or you can just party like a rock star in the resort hotels. If you want to test your luck, you can go out to one of the resort casinos; huge floors, comfortable chairs and just about every game you can imagine. If you aren’t big on gambling, you can go enjoy dinner and a show! Enjoy Vegas style shows with gourmet a la carte dining, and delicious premium beverages. Enjoy some of the hottest islands clubs and party under the Caribbean stars.

Before You Go Out

Before you go out for the night, you’ll want to make sure you schedule your departure and pickup times hours BEFORE you leave. Getting a cab to pick you up late at night from a club off the beach can be hellish if not impossible, so you want to make sure that you’re picked up at the end of the night! Staying within the resort can prevent this kind of a problem, but you want to explore Punta Cana to the max.

Explore the Resort Clubs

Each resort will have its own nightclub and you’ll find many of them spread out all over the island. If you’re planning on going to many different clubs during your stay, you’ll want to check out the party passes. You can find them on sale at the concierge desks and in cabs; they’re not just for resorts and they can get you 50-75% expensive cover charges to get into other resort clubs and nightclubs in Punta Cana.

Party like a Rock Star

You’ll have your choice of posh nightclubs here in Punta Cana. The first you should check out is Mangu Disco; here you’ll find multiple dance floors and five bars, stacked on top of each other with a glass dance floor to give you a view of the world below! You can find different events through the month where you can dress up like super villains or a 20s flapper! Check out the discothèques for a European style clubbing experience, and then move on to where the action is…

Test Your Luck!

Gambling is legal in Punta Cana, so you want to get out there and test your luck! There are many different casinos, most associated with the different resort hotels. Enjoy large gaming floors, fine dining and live entertainment like world class music acts and even off Broadway shows!

When you’re in Punta Cana, you want to explore everything the nightlife holds for you. Get out there and dance on the beach until the sun rises up, or just go play slots! Enjoy live music and entertainment or chill out with dinner and a show. However you choose to explore.
