Visit Cuba

With recent relaxation of the regulations to obtain required licenses for travel to Cuba, this island nation has become more broadly accessible to US travelers. Experience the sounds of rumba and salsa in the streets at night. Stroll past the vividly painted arches that grace the buildings of Old Havana. Admire the gleaming classic cars that roll past colonial architecture. Most of all, meet the warm and friendly Cuban people, who are as anxious to interact with Americans as we are to hear their stories and experience their culture first-hand.

4 Amazing Places to Dine in Cuba

Are you a fan of ropa vieja? Picadillo? Visit the Pearl of the Antilles for authentic Cuban cuisine! You’ll find city bars, beachside restaurants, and charming paladars throughout the Caribbean island, and you’ll be sure to experience new flavors and spices as you travel. Here are some of the best places to visit in Cuba if you’re a foodie!

Havana

Where else to start but the Cuban capital, where you’ll find more paladars and restaurants than anywhere else on the island. There are light bites, fast food, and sit-down meals to suit your budget and lifestyle. If you’ve never visited the metropolis before, head to La Habana Vieja, also known as Old Havana – the city’s most colorful district with its cobbled streets and historic buildings. Here you’ll find some of the best food on the island, but steer clear of the most popular tourist-heavy hotspots, which can get quite crowded during the evening. You’ll be spoiled for choice in Havana when it comes to starters, mains, and deserts.

Trinidad

There’s more to Cuba than just Havana, so if you’re looking for something different, the 16th-century colonial city of Trinidad is a great place for food lovers. Here you’ll find charming restaurants and bars, many of which are located down side streets with tables and chairs that extend onto the sidewalk. You’ll find all varieties of Cuban food, including specialist local dishes that you won’t find anywhere else on the island.

Cayo Santa María

Cayo Santa Maria is a picturesque island on the country’s north-central coast – a popular destination for sun-seekers and holiday makers. You’ll find excellent Cuba dining options, as well as international food from around the world here – many of the restaurants are situated on the grounds of large hotel complexes. If you’re a fan of seafood, you’ll be delighted when you visit Cayo Santa Maria – a great place for delicious, locally sourced ingredients.

Santiago de Cuba

Cuba’s second largest city is famous for its iconic classical buildings and culture – making it one of the country’s most famous metropolises. But it’s also a great place for food, with loads of dining options for families and couples. Here, many restaurants have panoramic views of the city streets – pull up a chair and watch the world go by! Santiago de Cuba is also known for its rum, with a plethora of varieties to choose from. Alternatively, order a meal at one of the beachside restaurants for stunning seaside views of the sandy beach.

3 of the Best Places in Cuba for Nightlife

There’s so much more to Cuba than white sandy beaches and beautiful bodies. This Caribbean island paradise packs an almighty punch when it comes to nightlife too, with bars and clubs playing everything from salsa to soul way into the early hours of the morning. Looking for the best Cuba nightlife? You’ve come to the right place! Here are some must-see places to visit if you want to dance the night away in the Pearl of the Antilles.

Havana

We can’t go any further without mentioning Havana, the Cuban capital that’s known for rum, salsa and some of the most historic buildings in the Caribbean. The Old Town is the place to be if you’re looking for traditional Cuban seafood, with restaurants that cater to all budgets. After a bite to eat, visit one of the local bars for a cocktail or head to a nightclub and let your hair down. Just remember to bring your dancing shoes! The great thing about Havana is there’s so much choice, with a wide range of tango houses, clubs, and musical venues. Calle Obispo is one of the busiest parts of town when the sun goes down and you’ll find plenty of places to get your groove on.

Varadero

Cuba has so much to offer once you step outside the capital, including the popular beach resort of Varadero. Although the nightlife here isn’t as hectic as Havana, you’ll still find plenty to do, including huge nightclubs in some of the bigger hotels. Many clubs have themed nights throughout the week, so check ahead to find out if something takes your fancy. As a general rule, the dress code is relaxed in Varadero and the music is eclectic – expect anything from Latin beats to the world’s biggest chart hits. Some clubs have good transportation links to take you back to your hotel after you’ve finished dancing but always do your research before you set out.

Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba has a vibrant nightlife all year round – making it the perfect spot for party lovers around the world. Looking for somewhere to show off your dance moves? Choose one of the many clubs here – many of which are part of larger hotel resort complexes. July is the most popular time of the year thanks to the famous annual carnival – a huge festival that celebrates the very best of Cuban culture, food, music, and the arts. It’s definitely an experience you’ll remember!
