Things to do in Dominican Republic

When you’re in the Dominican Republic, you’ll have your choice of adventurous activities in the water or in the tropical rainforest, and you can just relax in one of the many world class spas or along a beautiful white beach. Go scuba diving for centuries old wrecks, or go snorkeling along the reefs. If you’re looking for exciting nightlife, check out the casinos along the waterfront in Bavaro and Punta Cana and all of the beautiful clubs that make life here fun!

Play on the Playas

Here the beaches have names like “Playa Del Mar” or beach by the sea, and playa means beach! If you see the word playa on a map, it’s a good idea to check it out. There’s many beaches here in the Dominican Republic, and you’ll just have to get out there and explore them. Hands down, the best beaches will be with the all inclusive resorts! If you’re a guest of one, you’ll get access to sugary white beaches with powder so soft you’ll doubt it’s sand, as well as beautiful horizons that go on forever. Why just settle for a room with a view when you can explore paradise with beautiful beaches?!  If the beach isn’t your thing, get out into the water and explore its mysteries. From the shallow tidal pools to the deeps where you can snorkel and scuba dive to explore the world beneath, you’ll find no shortage of beauty! For a little extra adventure, you can go deep down in a diving helmet and walk the sea floor itself for half an hour, or go swimming with the dolphins.

Before You Go Out

Before you go out, make sure you schedule your taxi ride; it can be pretty packed around peak times, and it may take hours for them to pick you up. If you want to make sure that you’ll be getting to your excursion on time, schedule it hours before you’re ready to go!

Pamper Yourself

Pamper yourself for a day in one of the beautiful spas; here you can take yoga classes, get a massage; enjoy a four course meal and the ocean just a few feet away. You don’t have to do anything aside from relax; imagine a day where you can just forget about it all and have your worries melted away by skilled hands.

Fun in the Sun

Aside from exploring the beaches, the water and relaxing, there’s still a lot left to do! Riding down a zip line touching the tree tops going from platform to platform, or getting out there and exploring the jungles with an eco-park safari are great ways to enjoy the Dominican Republic. Eco-parks are like national parks in the US that are commercialized; you’ll pay a fee to get in but you’ll have access to swimming lagoons, beautiful scenery, and the safaris. You won’t be shooting the animals in the park, but you will get some great shots! Horseback riding down the beach is a great way to wrap up your day, so try it out at least once.
