Traveloni Agent Review
Just recently I had the chance to stay at one of the beach resorts in Waikiki and wanted to give a review of it. We were offered a 2 night stay at the Sheraton Waikiki with a partial oceanview. We have never had the chance to stay at the Sheraton Waikiki before so we jumped on the chance to do it. The Sheraton Waikiki is located right next to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and is one of the nicer hotels in Waikiki.
For our stay, one thing that I would mention about the rooms is the fact that they are a little older as compared to some of the other up scale hotels in Waikiki. Staying at the Sheraton isn’t cheap with it being one of the more expensive hotels and you would think that the rooms would be updated, but I don’t think they have for a while. One thing that I did like about our room was the large balcony. If you really wanted to, you could fit a lot of people out there. Most resorts in Hawaii have smaller balconies but this one had to be at least 10 feet across.
The Sheraton is a big resort with a lot of rooms and I was afraid that since my floor was near the top it would take awhile for me to be able to catch an elevator. Let me just say this about the elevators here, if you get motion sickness very easy beware as these things really move. With there being about 14 elevators total and all of them moving at a lightning speed, we never had to wait long for an elevator, which was really nice as that is one of the things I hate the most.
If you have ever stayed in Waikiki before, one thing you may notice is that a lot of the resort pools are lackluster. With there only being so much space, resorts can’t have those fabulous pools that you might expect to find. The Sheraton however probably has the best pools in Waikiki. In the back of the resort, they have an infinity adults only pool that looks out to the ocean. Here you can rent chairs that are in the pool as well as little cabanas for the day. This was a favorite spot for me as I would just lay out there with a cocktail. On the other side of the resort they have a pool for kids that has a mini water slide that the kids seemed to enjoy. Here you can also find a lot of lounge chairs to lay on as well as a couple of hammocks.
This is a beach resort but there is no beach in the front of the property and instead you need to walk to the sides. For the beachfront for this hotel, the waves were quite violent and would hit the wall pretty hard, which made it seem pretty scary and there was also no sand to lay on. You can however see a bunch of turtles swimming out in the water, which was kind of cool. To get to the beach there is a walkway where you can either lay out in front of the Royal Hawaiian or on the other side of the Sheraton.
Overall we had a really great time at the Sheraton and can’t wait to go back!
