Party Under the Stars

St Thomas is hands down the best party you’ll find in the US Virgin Islands. All-inclusive St Thomas vacation packages mean you won’t have to pay to party – all you’ll have to do is show your wristband and have a good time. Certain resorts allow you to hop from island to island and get the same benefits that you would at your booked destination as long as your wristband and stay is valid. Dance the night away on glass dance floors 3 stories up or on the beach at the hottest parties Spring Break can muster. If you’re feeling adventurous go on a pub crawl and see all the great places the locals visit – just make sure you only go with the ones offered by the resorts and licensed guides.

Sumptuous Seafood and Decadent Haute Cuisine

When you choose to book an all-inclusive vacation to St. Thomas, you will not only get the best views and the best nightlife, but the food puts it over the top. You’re on vacation and it’s time to treat yourself – why not start with a full course world class meal in some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean? Downtown has some great eats that can empty your wallet pretty fast, so you’ll want to walk along the waterfront to Frenchtown and around Crown Bay to get the better prices and local fare that you just can’t find anywhere else.

Activities

ACTIVITIES IN ST. THOMAS

St Thomas has a lot to do for people who want to explore. Have a spa day in one of the wellness centers, melting away those worries. Go to Coral World for water adventures where you can go out and parasail, snorkel and of course go scuba diving in some of the calmest spots in the Caribbean. Get out in the water and have fun on a live dolphin excursion, swimming out in the open sea with dolphins for about an hour. Slow down your day by chilling out on one of the many beautiful beaches, from pebbles to white sands you’ll sink into soft powder and catch some rays. The final thing you should try out while in St Thomas for your vacation is the shopping! Shopping in St Thomas is fantastic; you’ll find handicrafts, luxury items, jewelry, electronics and more.

Go Shopping in St. Thomas

Shopping is great here, and there are three main areas for shopping: Havensight, Yacht Haven Grande and Crown Bay. In Crown Bay you’ll find a lot of stores open on harbor day (when the ships come in) and they’re mostly local goods and a few boutique shops with gems and jewelry. In Havensight you’ll see many handicrafts and boutiques, but the shops here will be a bit smaller than those in Yacht Haven Grande; in this area you’ll find a lot of great restaurants and luxury stores. You can find just about everything downtown , but you’ll want to avoid the open malls since they sell the same tourist stuff that you’ll find in any harbor where cruise ships stop.

Enjoy the St. Thomas Sun

There are many places to enjoy the sun here on St Thomas, and if you’re planning a beach wedding you’ll find plenty of them! Most are the white sandy variety, but there are a few pebble beaches. Great areas to lay out and soak up some rays is the Crown Bay area, as well as the many private resort beaches; if you’re a guest you’ll automatically be able to use these beaches but if you’re not a guest you will have to buy a $5-$20 day pass. Beaches range from family friendly to nude, so check around and see which suits you best (nude beaches have signs posted in English so you won’t wander into them by accident).

Have Fun in the St. Thomas Water

Water sports abound, and there are a few that are unique to the Caribbean. You can take a boat out into the water and go fishing for swordfish and red snapper, or take a glass bottomed boat out into the water and see marine life up-close. If you want to get out into the water, go snorkeling along the coral reefs; the white sands will illuminate the colorful fish below and you’ll be able to reach out and touch them. Enjoy yourself!

Dining

St. Thomas Dining

St. Thomas is a beautiful island with a lot to offer the budding gourmand or just someone wanting a quick bite to eat. From delicious fresh coconuts to the gourmet restaurants that line the waterfront, you’ll always find something delicious to enjoy! Herve has some of the best French food you’ll find on the island, and the Room with a View has great surf and turf. Enjoy fresh fruit tarts made with produce that’s local and sustainable, and seafood that falls out the shell. If you’re looking for the best of gourmet dining, you’ll find it first in the resort hotels. If you’re a guest, you’ll be able to eat for free as part of your all-inclusive resort package. Another place you can find good dining is by wandering around; the water front has tons of great restaurants that will keep you busy while you’re there.

St. Thomas Local Flavors

Whenever you’re on the island, you know that you need to enjoy something tasty and local! Cuzzin’s has great Caribbean food that is mainly seafood and spicy treats. Hook Line and Sinker has great seafood but specializes in swordfish, so check it out in Frenchtown. Victor’s New Hideout is hard to get to, but if you ask around locals will show you how to get there and the walk is worth the effort, with delicious seafood and Caribbean cooking right outside with a great view of Crown Bay.

Splurge in St. Thomas

Herve is the spot you want to go to when you’re looking for the best French and American food on the island; it’s a bit pricey, but it’s so worth it with its excellent service. The other splurge option in St. Thomas is Oceana; it’s in Frenchtown with great surf and turf options, but it can be expensive but with its fantastic ocean views and delicious foods

Resort Gourmet in St. Thomas

Gourmet options abound on the island, but some of the best restaurants will be in the resorts. If you’re a guest of the resort, you’ll usually eat your gourmet a la carte meal for free! If you’re not, you’ll pay the list price on the menu. Each resort will have its own offerings; from delicious Asian fusion cuisine to Arab, Afro-Caribbean and everything in between. You won’t have to wonder far to find the good ones, and concierges will be able to help you learn more about the good restaurants nearby.

These are just a sample of the food that awaits you! If you want to find the best restaurants, you’ll need to leave the resorts and go out into town. You’ll find that the more foot trafficked areas will have higher prices, but not everything along the waterfront will cost you an arm and a leg. If you wander around and speak with the locals, they’ll be able to help you find the secret places that aren’t exactly on the map that serve great food at great prices!

Nightlife

The Vibrant St. Thomas Nightlife

There’s really no dispute that St Thomas has the liveliest nightlife in the archipelago that forms the Virgin Islands. While it may not be South Beach, Las Vegas or New York City but it can be loads of fun nonetheless! If it is not dancing you’re into, then you can try jazz karaoke and bar hopping. A good number of night clubs here play that exotic mixture of Afro-Caribbean, modern Hip Hop American hits and even Jamaican Reggae. The happy hour in most bars starts at around 4 pm and continues until dawn, on Thursdays till Saturday night. It’s one of the best ways to kick off that Weekend vibe and shake off a stressful week! That said, here are some of the best rave spots on St Thomas:

  1. Havensight Bar & Grille Area – It’s only in Havensight that you will find a mixed population of several restaurants and bars scattered all over the neighborhood. Most of them play rock and roll music and will always have a performing artist on stage. But even then, at one time or another, the performers will always invite revelers to join them on the stage for a karaoke duet.
  2. The Charlotte Amalie – In Charlotte Amalie, one of the most active and party joints in the Waterfront, you can find some serious action in one of these ‘always happening’ joints. Even better, the Bars and Restaurants here are just a walking distant away from one another. So, if you’re a fan of club hopping and the related shenanigans, the Charlotte Amalie is one of the places you shouldn’t miss.
  3. The Exclusive Frenchtown area – Frenchtown, another partying district, is just but a few miles from the earlier described Charlotte Amalie. But unlike the Charlotte Amalie, the atmosphere is a bit relaxed and less ‘rowdy’, it’s one of those areas that would serve as an excellent location for a romantic night out.
  4. The Red Hook Avenue – If you belong to the young generation of party goers who fancy the new age semi-block partying island style, then the Red Hook Avenue -located south of St Thomas – should be on your ‘to-visit’ place once you land in St. Thomas. As it the tradition, you can start the night with a candle-lit dinner then a couple of drinks before moving to another bar just down the street. What’s more, most of the restaurants and clubs in the Red Hook Avenue often have live bands or performing artists to complement their ambience.

Generally, in St Thomas, as you’ll come to notice, most of the hotels and resorts offer some kind of platform for nightlife activity, be it bars, pool tables, karaoke, etc. Some have even diversified further to have the luxury of including casual nocturnal activities such as beach volleyball or Caribbean music shows – complete with performing Jazz maestros, Mocko jumble dancers or even Calypso singers.

Other than specific spots, local celebrations such as the French Heritage and Carnival week will also include a host of exciting evening activities. Also, don’t forget to check out evening shows and special gigs especially during Christmas and the New Year Festivities.
