The outdoors is perhaps Bergen’s most stunning asset. Mountains kilometers high that were carved out millennia ago stand guard around serene mountain lakes and towering waterfalls. The glimmering carpets of ice peaks contrast with the verdant green of hardy high-altitude trees and grass. The result is wonderful vistas as far as the eye can see.
Hiking this terrain is an incomparable activity to indulge in on your own, and a great way to meet new people on organized tours. The hiking trails vary from the easy (great for conversation) to the advanced (great for showing off!)
If you visit in summer, the beach is also a great place to hang out as a single, or to meet others. Bergen’s coastline is sheltered from the open sea by outer islands that allows the water to be warmer than most others at this latitude. There is even an excellent fresh water beach at Skomakerdiket at Mt. Floyen – the perfect place to end a hike.
Bergen is wonderful melting pot in which to lose yourself, find yourself, and maybe even seek out someone special. There is no shortage of things to do and gorgeous sights to discover. As a single, that makes a great destination in every way.
