Guide to Planning a Family Vacation Everyone Will Enjoy

Planning a Family Vacation

If your family is anything like mine, they all have a different idea of what will be a fun family vacation and it can sometimes be stressful to plan a trip with them as you want to make everyone happy. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone on vacation with my husband and two kids and had to hear some type of complaining from one of them about doing something they didn’t want to do. If it was possible I would go on three different vacations with all of them to make them happy but that isn’t possible. Over the years of planning trips with them, I have come up with some ways that can help great a trip that everyone will enjoy, even if it may be only a little for some.

Choose the Right Destination

When planning your family vacation, one of the most important decisions that you will have to make is which destination you want to visit. For my family, my son wants to go some place that offers a lot of outdoor activities while my daughter enjoys destinations where she can go shopping. As you can see these are totally different ideas of what makes a fun vacation and it can be hard to find a destination that will make everyone happy. One thing that I like to try and do is some research into different destinations that I know I can afford and seeing what types of things can be done there. Finding a destination that offers a lot of different things can help make it easier on you as you can find things your family will enjoy doing.

Plan the Right Activities

Now that you have decided on a destination that offers something for everyone, you now need to make sure that you plan the right activities. For me when I’m doing this, I try to look for 2 to 3 different activities that I know each of my kids will enjoy and try to book them. When doing this I try to make sure that I do an even amount as I know that if one kid gets to do more stuff than the other, I will never hear the end of it. By booking activities that you know they will enjoy, it will allow them to do things that make them happy and also create memories that they will always remember.

Get Everyone Involved in the Planning Process

When it comes to creating a family trip that everyone will enjoy, this is probably one of the more important things that you will have to do. Even though it may seem like your kids have no interest in helping you plan this trip, you know they do as if you don’t do things they like to do, they will complain about it. One thing that I like to do when I’m planning our vacation is to set down with my kids and go over different things we can do on our trip and let them pick some of the activities we will do. By them being involved, they get to do things they want to do and go on a trip that they will enjoy.

Planning a family vacation isn’t easy especially if you have a large family but trying to do these things can maybe help you create a trip that everyone will love.
