Go Cruising with Uniworld

Uniworld is a premier boutique river cruise brand that was founded over three decades ago in Los Angeles, California. It currently operates a fleet of 18 river cruise ships that sail the inland waters across the continents of Asia and Europe. Included as part of Uniworld’s concept of luxury are butlers who learn every detail about what you like and even take quick trips to shore to be able to obtain something you want that they do not have on board. Master chefs prepare dishes that would not be out of place in the world’s best restaurants.

The company’s ships feature original artwork, stately rooms and complimentary amenities of the highest quality. The bulk of the Uniworld’s cruises are conducted in Europe with multiple stops in countries across Central Europe. The countries are Holland, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Austria and Romania. Uniworld operates a single cruise in Russia. In Western Europe, Uniworld covers Italy, Portugal, Spain and France. Themed cruises are a Uniworld specialty in the European branch of its operations. Passengers can opt for a tour of the history of Europe’s royal families, visit its Christmas markets, learn of the continent’s Jewish heritage and even go on an expedition of culinary discovery. In Asia, Uniworld has a presence in Vietnam, Cambodia and China, and has just set up operations in India with a Ganges cruise. The sole Middle East cruise it operates is in Egypt.

Uniworld specializes in luxury cruises but is evolving its business model to expand its client base. Traditionally, river cruises are seen as the realm of sedate retirees. Uniworld is flipping the model by targeting millennials, Gen X and Gen Y. It has just launched ‘U by Uniworld’, which is aimed at the 18-40 demographic. Shifting away from the wine, dine and static sightseeing approach that works with older clientele, it is reinventing the river cruise experience with a focus on active participation. U by Uniworld cruisers will have local nightlife, bars and restaurants molded into the experience. On board the ships, bar mixologists and international DJs will entertain the crowd. Even the culinary experience has been redesigned from scratch to suit the younger, more adventurous travelers.

Two existing Uniworld ships, the River Ambassador and the River Baroness, are being transformed to accommodate this change in patrons and activities. They each have the capacity to carry 116 passengers and will launch in 2018.

Uniworld assures that there will be no departure, however, from its established dedication to excellence in personalized service. Its hallmark TNT (Tiny Noticeable Touches) approach will continue to focus on making every cruise aboard a Uniworld ship a memory of a lifetime.
