Cancun Golf Courses

If you’re researching possible destinations for a golf getaway, you may want to consider traveling to sunny Cancun in Mexico. While Cancun may be better known for it’s all inclusive resorts and amazing beaches, it also offers a plethora of world class golf courses for you to play a round at. If you’re interested in some of the best golf courses in Cancun, here’s our list of ones where you could consider playing.

One Cancun golf course to consider playing on while on vacation is The Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort that boasts not one but three nine hole golf courses. Each of these three courses were designed by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus. Each course presents a unique set of challenges, the first course features a myriad of lakes, the second course is surrounded by sand dunes and the third course is set in a jungle environment. Guests who have signed up for the resort’s all inclusive package are able to play unlimited rounds of golf, without paying green fees. Green fees for day guests vary between $178-$289 for an 18 hole round of golf, depending on which tee time you book.

The Cancun Golf Club at Pok-Ta-Pok is conveniently located within Cancun’s resort district and offers spectacular views of both the Nichupte Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. The club offers an 18 hole, world class golf course as well as two putting greens, a driving range and an on site pro site. Regular green fees vary from $95-$160 depending on the season. Green fees include the use of a motorized golf buggy and complimentary snacks and beverages. If you’re keen on booking a round, just make sure to avoid hitting one of the course’s unique hazards, which are it’s very own Mayan ruins.

The Playa Mujeres Golf Club’s was designed by world renown golfer Greg Norman and is consistently voted as one of Mexico’s top 10 golf courses. Green fees for one round of golf will set you back $230 and includes you being able to rent a golf cart, bottled water and a bucket of practice balls. If you work up an appetite, make sure to visit the Lagoon Grill, which you’ll find in the clubhouse on the 18th hole.

If you’re looking to test your golf skills, head to the Puerto Cancun Golf Course, which is known for it’s narrow fairways, tricky greens and challenging water hazards. The Puerto Cancun Golf Course, which was designed by former British Open winner Tom Weiskopf, was specifically designed to showcase Cancun’s shoreline and picturesque marina. Most of the 18 hole course’s fairways offer amazing ocean, marina or jungle views for you to enjoy. If you’re in need of a bit of pre-course practice, make sure to take advantage of the club’s putting green and golf academy, the latter of which is staffed by the club’s resident pros.

The beauty of choosing Cancun as the destination for your next golf vacation is that most of the golf courses in Cancun are located within just a short drive of Cancun’s resort district. So no matter which hotel or resort you stay at, you’ll be able to play a round of golf at multiple golf courses. If you plan on spending a few days making the most of Cancun’s beaches, you’ll still be able to fit in a few rounds of golf as most of Cancun’s golf clubs offer twilight golf sessions that makes for a fun early evening activity.
